Western European Cultural History Tour

May 24—June 28, 2009

2009 WESTECHT

Program Description:

The Western European Cultural History Tour (WECHT) is a completely unique approach to university study abroad. It combines a thorough tour of major cultural and historical sites throughout Europe and the Mediterranean with intense academic study of the culture and history being experienced. It's an ideal learning environment because it integrates reading and writing with direct involvement to give a richer understanding of the subject than book learning alone could possibly provide. The Western European Cultural History Tour is a 35–day program traveling from London to Munich.

London to Munich
6 credit hours
Length: 35 days
Program Fee: $4,498* (Non-EMU Students)
Program Fee: $3,998*
( This cost for currently enrolled EMU students reflects a $500 reduction in program fee.)
*does not include tuition and airfare

*Our program fees are based on currency exchange rates in effect at the time of budget planning. Further weakening of the U.S. Dollar against world currencies may require a surcharge to cover unexpected costs resulting from unfavorable exchange rates. We will do everything possible to limit program costs as we monitor economic conditions beyond our control.

ECHT Advantages:

The emphasis is on culture

Our tours are designed to involve students in varied cultural experiences in key cultural centers. We allow time in major cultural capitals such as London, Paris, Berlin, Prague and Munich to enable students to further explore for themselves the cultural environment of these great cities. Theater, opera, concert performances and guided museum tours are included in the tour price.

You get college credit

The WESTERN EUROPEAN CULTURAL HISTORY TOUR carries 6 semester hours of Eastern Michigan University credit. Non-EMU students may transfer credit to their home institution. Non-EMU students should consult with their study abroad adviser or academic adviser to learn their institution's policies and procedures regarding transfer credit.

Our staff is top quality

All faculty members on the European Cultural History Tours hold Ph.D.s or MFAs from leading universities. The faculty consists of widely traveled university professors of history and art.

We're experienced

During the last 30 years, our staff has conducted more than 140 successful tours to Western and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, Russia, Israel, Egypt and Asia.
