Munich

History in Prague and Munich
February 20-March 1, 2009
Dr. Gordon Knutson, History

Earn 3 hours credit in History while touring these wonderful, scenic cities. We'll visit the major artistic sites and museums of these cities such as the Old City and Sternberg Palace in Prague and the Alte and Neue Pinakotheks in Munich.

Historical sites include the Prague Castle, Vaclavske Namesti, sites of Hitler's Munich Beer Hall Putsch, and the Dachau concentration camp.

Program fee: $999

Power, Place & Image in Florence and Rome
February 20-March 1, 2009

Dr. Ron Delph, History & Philosophy

The history and culture of Medieval and Renaissance Florence and Rome, with visits to important museums and historic sites in each city.Two credit options available:

Undergraduate: History 329, Power Place & Image: Florence & Rome 3 credit hrs
Graduate: Hist 516, Medieval and Renaissance Florence & Rome 3 credit hrs

Straw Market and Bronze Sculpture
Global Hospitality Management Italy

The Global Hospitality Management course is heading to Italy. This 8 day tour will include market tours, a wine tasting, culinary experience at a local culinary institution and site visits to a variety of restaurants and lodging operations. This experiential course will provide students the opportunity to read about European style hotels and restaurants, wine or cheese making and then visit the sites where these products or services are produced.

Frida

Art in Mexico City

Stay in the heart of Mexico City and visit its world-class museums such as; the Museo Archeologico and the the great collection of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in the former private residence of Dolores Olmedo Patino. Tour the Zocalo and Catedral, visit frescoed palaces, and learn about Mexico's fascinating peoples and history through studying its art. Earn three credits in Art 100 (Art Appreciation-fulfils Gen Ed requirement) or Art 379 (Special Topics: Art in Mexico City) on this Winter Break tour.

Olmec Head

Mexico: The Route of Cortez

Follow the route of Cortez through southern and central Mexico. Students travel and learn about Mexican cultures and globalization while experiencing a wide range of settings: from tropical coasts to semi-arid highlands, from rural fishing and agricultural villages to one of the largest cities in the world, and from the most ancient civilizations to the modern. The trip ends in Mexico City, with excursions to the Zocalo, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the ancient city of Teotihuacán. Earn 3 credits taking ANTH379 Mexico: The Route of Cortez.
