Counselors:

High School Counselors

EMU will award millions of dollars in academic scholarships this year - including 16 full rides worth more than $60,000 over four years.

Your students can earn college credit while still in high school.
Dual Enrollment

Students with cumulative GPAs of a 3.0 or higher and who have completed 4 semesters of high school are eligible for dual enrollment at EMU.

The Eastern Scholars Program

The Eastern Scholars program is an excellent opportunity for school districts to provide advanced classes to their students without the long-term financial investment in a traditional advanced placement program.

Eastern Michigan University will work with school districts to select a course or courses that will be offered on the high school campus for advanced high school students.

The courses will be taught by EMU faculty, and EMU credit will be awarded. While of course we would prefer that students continue at EMU after high school graduation, this credit will be transferable to any college or university based on other universities' transfer policies.

Advanced Placement Credit

Advanced students often enroll in advanced placement classes in high school with the intention of earning college credit. At the end of the semester, students take a national Advanced Placement (AP) exam. Colleges and universities award credit to students based on their exam scores.

CLEP Placement Credit

CLEP exams allow a student to earn college credit for knowledge they have gained through class work, outside study, or any other way that results in them achieving high results on a standardized test in a subject area. CLEP exams are typically taken during the end of high school or between high school and college. Read more about CLEP credit at EMU.
