
Awards Available for all EMU Students
McNair Scholar's Program
- Named for Ronald McNair, astronaut on the Challenger space shuttle, the program provides advising, faculty mentoring, research training and experience through a Summer Research Institute. Included is information about all aspects of applying for, and coping with, graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree. Activities are designed to inform and support undergraduates who intend to pursue a Ph.D. degree in any discipline.
DUETSs Program
- The Honors College at Eastern Michigan University has obtained funding from the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program in the Division of Undergraduate Education, Directorate for Education and Human Resources, National Science Foundation to establish a new program called Developing Urban Education Teachers in STEM subjects (DUETSs). The general outcomes of the Program will be to (1) increase the number of secondary education STEM majors graduated and placed in high-need school districts, (2) increase the retention of new inservice secondary STEM teachers in high-need school districts and (3) increase secondary STEM teacher effectiveness in the classroom by pairing EMU’s successful Urban Education Program with its recently-established Creative Scientific Inquiry Experience (CSIE) program.
Scholarships for Honors College Students
Honors Undergraduate Fellowship:
- Purpose: to support honors student undergraduate research
- Amount: ~ $2000 (Fall/Winter); ~ $1000 (Spring/Summer)
- Frequency: 20 awards in fall and winter terms; some spring and summer awards
- Eligibility: 56 credit hours completed, honors member in good standing, enrolled full time

Honors – DaimlerChrysler Senior Thesis Award:
- Purpose: to recognize the significant achievement of Honors students upon completion of the senior thesis or project
- Amount: ~ $2500
- Frequency: 15-20 awards per academic year
- Eligibility: must be registered for the senior thesis during the award year

Founder’s Award:
- Purpose: to encourage and support study abroad and experiential learning
- Amount: $500
- Frequency: one or two award(s) per academic year
- Eligibility: honors members in good standing, completed 30 credit hours
