Clinical Nurse Specialist
The role of clinical nurse specialist in adult health nursing is carried out in many settings, such as acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, ambulatory centers, home health care, and community hospitals. The preparation to become a clinical nurse specialist consists of the adult health clinical courses (15 credit hours), concentration courses (12-13 credit hours), nursing theory and research courses (10-12 credit hours), elective courses (3-4 credit hours), and 275 clinical hours (1 credit hour). After graduation, the nurse is encouraged to apply to take the certification examination for clinical nurse specialist in adult health offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
