The Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs is the University's ranking academic officer and is responsible for all University academic matters. The Provost provides leadership in all areas that affect the quality of education and research at EMU.
The Provost focuses on the changing needs of students in higher education. The oversight of curriculum development and undergraduate education initiatives are an integral part of what fuels the Academic Affairs division. Issues such as general education reform and the future of instructional delivery are currently being explored here at EMU to further enhance educational quality. The Provost is proud to help maintain our high-quality faculty by overseeing and monitoring criteria for faculty hiring, promotions, and tenure to ensure the best possible educators are available to EMU students.
The Academic Affairs Division primarily includes the five colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Health and Human Services, and Technology as well as the balance of the Academic Affairs Division including the Halle Library, Graduate Studies & Research, Extended Programs, Academic Continuous Improvement, Undergraduate Studies and Curriculum, and Academic Human Resources. The Provost also has oversight responsibility for University Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement and Information & Communications Technology.
