SEEUS Walking and Mobile Escort Service...
Fall and Winter Semester Only
What is SEEUS:
SEEUS (Student Eyes and Ears for University Safety) is designed
to enhance your safety and peace of mind while you walk on campus
after dark. The primary purposes of SEEUS are to provide escorts
to persons walking alone to on campus destinations such as classrooms,
buildings, residence halls and their parked cars. SEEUS also
provides additional eyes and ears for the EMU Police Department
by observing the campus environment during the escort service.
Escorts provided by SEEUS are primarily walking escorts, although
some mobile escorts are available from North Campus Lots #1 and
#2 to residence halls and on campus apartments. Mobile escorts
are not intended as an optional form of transportation and DPS
may
deny
the request
when two or more individuals are going to the same destination.
Escorts will be provided for on-campus origins and destinations
only.
The SEEUS walking escort service is in operation daily for the fall and
winter semesters, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Monday through Friday of the
Spring/Summer semesters, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. SEEUS personnel are assigned
to the primary pedestrian walkway areas and are available for escorts.
SEEUS mobile escorts are available Sunday through Thursday, 10 p.m. to 3
a.m., for escorts from North Campus Lots 1 and 2 to the residence halls.
For an escort, call 48-SEEUS during operation hours.
SEEUS personnel are carefully screened and selected students
employed by the EMU Police Department. All SEEUS personnel undergo
specialized training, however, they are not body guards and are
not required to have defensive training.
SEEUS personnel are
identified by their bright yellow jackets or T-shirts with
the SEEUS
logo
on the back
and ID badge. All SEEUS personnel are equipped with a two-way
radio for quick dispatch and to report suspicious activity
to the Police Department.
