Shirley Cheechoo Lecture [11/19/08]
Shirley Cheechoo began directing films in 1998, after working as an actor and playwright of notable plays such as Path with No Moccasins (1991). Cheechoo teaches drama workshops to Native youth across Ontario, and has founded a touring youth drama company, the Debahjehmujig Theatre Group, which often performs in the Ojibwe language. She has won first prize awards for her works at numerous film festivals including Montreal's First Peoples Festival, the Santa Fe Film Festival, and the American Indian Film Festival of San Francisco. In 2002 Cheechoo was named Independent Filmmaker of the Year at the Arizona International Film Festival.
LaughLounge [11/20/08]
Campus Life invites all students to come experience the premiere of LaughLounge, a haven for stand-up comedy fans. Local stand-up comedians come together to make your night worth remembering. Also free snacks and beverages are offered in a relaxed atmosphere with a great view of EMU’s campus at night. The line-up on Thursday includes: Nov. 20 – Jason Hagle featuring Russel Raab with Mike Sandoval as emcee.
The Apple Expirence is coming to EMU [11/12/08]
The EMU Bookstore, on the first floor of the EMU Student Center, will become home to an exclusive Apple Authorized Campus Store on Monday, Nov. 17. The store will feature full Apple inventory, product professionals and demonstrations. Students, faculty and staff will also receive exclusive pricing on software and hardware. To celebrate its grand opening, the store will have a drawing for a free 8GB Chromatic iPod Nano, color of choice, and iTunes gift card. For more information, call 734-483-2850.
